Cartridge Filters
Cartridge Filters are considered the most environmentally friendly filter, as they do not require backwashing dirt and debris onto the ground. When clogged, the inside cartridge element needs to be hosed down periodically, chemically cleaned about once a month, and replaced every other year.
Cartridge or element filtration has been available for a relatively long time, but recently has had a rapid growth of popularity.
Cartridge filters are constructed of a fiber material which is very effective in removing dirt and suspended matter when water passes through it.
Features not available in either Sand or DE filters include:
- compact, lightweight, easy-to-install and no backwashing required
- more effective filtration area in a very compact system
- less maintenance and longer filter runs between cleanings
